The lawfirm of James M. Bright and Associates enters into a separate agreement with each and every client for fees to be charged on a particular account or group of accounts turned over for collection or other legal services. Fees are typically either a predetermined dollar amount per hour or a predetermined percentage of recovery. Out of pocket costs are typically paid by the client as incurred or if a large number of accounts are to be collected simultaneously then a predetermined retainer amount is agreed upon by the parties. Straight contingent fee plus costs is the rule in most collection cases. The percent varies depending upon the dollar amounts involved, the courts which are to utilized (i.e. justice court, county court or district court). Fee arrangements can be as creative as needed to accommodate the requirements and goals of the client. It is not uncommon to combine a reduced hourly fee with a reduced contingent fee if the result provides the client with the greatest benefit possible. |
